Expozine 2009

EXPOZINE

Montreal's annual small press, comic and zine fair! This incredible event brings together nearly 300 creators of printed matter - from books to zines to posters and graphic novels - in both English and French.

Since its first edition in 2002, Expozine has grown to become one of North America's largest small press fairs, attracting thousands of visitors, and exhibitors from across Canada, the United States and Europe.

EXPOZINE was created to help the small press community and local writers and artists meet each other and reach new readers. It has been a huge success: each year, more and more people discover the rich world of local publishing, and each year, more and more publishers take part, reaching a new audience and meeting new collaborators. It’s one of Montreal’s premier cultural events!

The 2009 Expozine Alternative Press Awards Gala

The 2009 edition of Expozine was the largest yet, with approximately 15 000 people visiting 300 different exhibitors (link to exhibitor list) over two days. The Expozine organizing team asked each exhibitor to submit a copy of their best new publication for consideration for the Expozine Alternative Press Awards in one of three categories: best book, best zine and best comic.

The winners will be chosen by an esteemed panel of six judges (three anglophone and three francophone) in the months following Expozine. The awards will be presented at a gala in March, 2010, with the gala’s time, place and list of nominees to be announced in early February, 2010 on this page.

Expozine is organized by Arcmtl, a non-profit corporation dedicated to promoting and preserving local independent culture, and is made possible in part thanks to the support of the Canada Council for the Arts and the Conseil des Arts de Montréal as well as our private sponsors.
